Acid Consumption (Ph8.3)
(P-ALKALINITY) TEST
1. Take 50 mil of filtered water by
mess cylinder (1) into conical flask (2)
2. Add 2 Drops of the acid consumption primary
indicator (3) in case of boiler water, the water color changes to pink.
3. Push up the acid consumption test
solution (5) in the burette (4) to “0”mark by pressing the bottle.
4. Hold conical flask containing pink
colored test water in right hand and drop the acid consumption test solution
gradually, opening the cock on auto burette slowly by left hand.
5. The pink color gradually fades away
and when the test water become colorless, stop dropping test solution.
6. Count the scale on the auto burette
from “0” point in ppm and the number is Acid Consumption (Ph8.3) as CaCO3
Acid Consumption (pH4.8)
(M-ALAKINITY) TEST
1. The test water used for acid
consumption (Ph8.3) test is used intact
2. Add one drop of the acid consumption
secondary indicator (6), and the liquid in conical flask changes to yellow.
3. Drop continuously the test solution
in the auto burette used for acid consumption (pH8.3) test from this position
again.
4. As the drops are added in conical flask, the yellowed water changes
to orange-red, shaking the flask well and stop dropping when the color of whole
water becomes orange-red clearly.
5. Count the scale on the auto burette
from “0” point in ppm and the number is acid consumption (Ph4.8) as CaCO3
SALINITY (CHLORIDE ION CI¯) test
1. Test water used for acid Consumption
(pH4.8) test is used intact.
2. Add 2 drops of the salinity
indicator (7) to orange-red colored water in conical flask and the color
changes to yellow.
3. Push up the salinity test solution
(9) in auto burette (8) to “0”point by pressing the bottle and the drop the
liquid from this position gradually.
4. Stop dropping when the color of
water in conical flask changes from yellow to faint brown
5. Count the scale on auto burette from
“0” point and the number is the chloride
ion CI-in ppm.
PHOSPATE ION (P043¯) test
1. Take 25 mil of filtered test water
into beaker (10)
2. Add one drop of the acid consumption
primary indicator (3) and shake well until the pink colored.
3. Add the phosphate primary reagent
solution(11) by one drop after another and shake well until the pink color fade
away.
4. Put the decolored water to the
“5”point on phosphate test tube (12).
5. Add the phosphate secondary reagent
solution (13)to the “7.5”point on the test tube, plug tight and shake well.
6. If phosphate ion remains, color
changes to yellow.
7. Compare the depth of color with the
standard color ampoule (14) and seek the corresponding color in the comparator
(15) this is ppm of phosphate ion P043¯.
HARDNESS teat
If the
hardness of boiler water containing over 20 ppm of P043¯,
Then the hardness is ZERRO and the test is unnecessary. The hardness of raw,
feed and boiler water without P043¯ is tested by
following method.
1. Put
50 ml of test water into conical flask by using mess-cylinder (1).
2. Add 3 drops of the hardness primary
solution (16) with a dropping pipette .
3. Add 1 mil of the hardness secondary solution
(17) with a dropping pipette.
4. Add 3 drops of the hardness third
solution (18) with dropping rod and then the test water in conical flask is
blue or red colored. if it is blue, the hardness is zero, and if it is red, the
hardness stay to be measured.
5. Dropping test is started only after
the hardness test solution (20) is adjusted to “0” point of the auto burette
(19).
6. Red-colored water changes to blue as the dropping is
proceed and shake well, and when total water is clear blue color, stop
dropping.
7. Number of ppm “0”point on the auto
burette indicate the hardness as CaCO3.
pH test
Dip the pH
test paper (21) in boiler water and the Ph is easily measured by comparision of degree
of discoloration with standard colors.
